SPRING TOUR 2009
The tour for spring 2009 is the hilarious and beautifully written ‘Bride or Groom?’ By Bill Cashmore and Andy Powrie. ‘Bride or Groom’ tells the story of the struggle to get to and then attend a wedding reception. The first act concerns two very different couples who are thrown together in the race to be on time for a friends wedding. Disaster after hysterical disaster happens, with the cars breaking down, trains being missed, fights, and a slow motion race to the bus stop to get the only available seats!! They do get there, but all is not quite what it seems!!!
The second act is a set of people who play not only the ‘top table’ but guests at ‘table F’ who are at the very far end of the reception. The action switches back and forth between the tables and the actors play all of the roles from the drunken bride’s mother to the annoying third rate actor who bores everyone with his stories of off set antics!
Clever and extremely funny, as well as being poignant and touching, ‘Bride or Groom?’ will have audiences laughing with tears of pleasure and pain as the characters unravel the hysterical plot.
...’If you’ve ever been to a wedding then you’ll know that disaster is just around the corner!...’

‘WORLD PREMIER’ performances by OPUS Theatre Company
OPUS are delighted and very excited to announce that two premier plays will be performed by the company during the spring of 2009.
‘My Diet From Hell’ and ‘ Such A Laugh’ by Phil Preece.
This play takes the form of two very funny and beautifully written monologues, one
for a man and one for a woman. ‘My Diet From Hell’ tells the story of Karen and her
desperate desire to lose weight, seemingly against all odds! She tries everything,
even hypnotherapy, until she meets the man of her dreams, or that is, she thinks
she has! This first piece was reviewed by writer Ann Mayo as ‘...simply brilliant....’
The second monologue is ‘Such A Laugh’, a bitter-

House of Pain
The new cult comedy
‘You’ll die
Laughing’
A brand new comedy by Lichfield writer and theatre critic Phil Preece is to have its premier at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre 23rd, 24th and 25th April 2009!
OPUS are extremely excited about this new play and our wonderful association with the Garrick Theatre. ‘House of Pain’ tells the story of Frank Turner and his failing hairdressers shop in Farnworth in the north of England. Times is hard, and hard times calls for desperate measures!!! Frank decides to shut up shop and reopen as the ‘House of Pain’ a lifestyle and spa experience where your every piercing and tattooing needs can be taken care of, oh, and they will do you a nice perm on the side! Join Sean the piercing specialist who lives on ‘Planet Ibiza’ and whose few remaining brain cells are locked into his life on the clubbing scene, Mrs Spatchcock, the long suffering cleaner who has ‘Bricketts’ bleach coursing through her brains and Brenda, whose affections have only one direction, that of the shop owner, Frank Turner!
Hilarious and wonderfully nostalgic, ‘House of Pain’ will be a treat for the senses as it whisks you off to a place where life really can be that good!
Tickets are priced at 12.00 and 10.00
